The Behavior Specialist is a professional support person with ECKCE who consults and collaborates with school intervention teams, special education teams, and the WEBS program to develop behavior interventions that support student success.
What to Expect from the Behavior Specialist
For Teachers/School Staff
Timely consultations to address behavior concerns and lagging skills
Observations and suggestions offering research-based strategies to develop an action plan
Reflections and ideas on classroom management for teachers
Assistance with functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans and follow-up with team and student to assure plan efficacy
Guidance in considering WEBS placement
For Administrators
Staff training on research-based behavior strategies, the impact of trauma/adversity on learning, and other related social-emotional concerns
Data-driven feedback to determine the efficacy of interventions
For Families
Educational and community resources
Home behavioral intervention strategies
Support and occasional home visits upon request
Referral Process
After interventions have been implemented and data collected that indicates a referral would be beneficial, complete the online referral form below. Contact the behavior specialist otherwise to coordinate as needed.
Behavior Specialist reviews IEP, FBA, BIP and/or classroom data.
Behavior Specialist schedules and conducts at least three observations and student and teacher interviews.
Collaborative meeting is scheduled to create an action plan.
